International Podcast Day
Today, September 30, is International Podcast Day, a date to honour the format that slipped, without asking permission, into our daily lives. It is in the car, at the gym, in the kitchen halfway through dinner and, for many people, on the phone resting on the nightstand. If you are one of those who already have “just one more episode” as a ritual, this article is for you.
Why podcasts took over
Unlike a screen, a podcast does not ask for your eyes. You can listen while walking, cooking, tidying the house or doing a light workout. For a busy routine, it is time “gained”: you learn, you laugh, you distract yourself or you simply keep yourself company. In Portugal, the offering has grown a lot, from comedy to history, from sports to science, including long conversations that feel like coffee with friends.
Podcasts to fall asleep to: friend or foe?
One of the most popular uses is listening to something at bedtime. Calm voices, stories without big plot twists and a timer set usually work well for many people. But there are tricks that help: lower the volume, use the sleep timer so it turns off on its own, pick slower-paced episodes and avoid the ones that leave you thinking (or laughing out loud) at 11:30 PM. And, of course, put the phone down with the brightness on minimum.
An end-of-day routine that helps you switch off
Rest is built with small rituals: a regular schedule, lower light, fewer screens, a warm shower, a light read or, yes, a good episode. On the busier weeks, when the head does not switch off, an extra bit of support can be part of the routine. Stay Sleep was designed to support rest and recovery, within a well-cared-for sleep routine, not replacing good habits, but accompanying them.
And during the day? Snacks so you can listen without interruption
There is also the commute podcast, the walking podcast, the desk podcast. For those moments, having the day-to-day basics covered keeps the routine rolling: Stautt Vitamin Gummies are a simple way to keep micronutrients on track, without complicating anything.
Three episodes, three moods
For the morning commute, something that makes you think. For the late afternoon, something that makes you laugh. For the night, something that gently sends you off. A well-planned playlist is half the way to days with more rhythm and nights with more calm.
Today is a day to press play
Use International Podcast Day to discover a new show and to rework your end-of-day ritual. Tomorrow October begins, a good month to start new routines.
